Stardust Machine® grinds euro’s into dust.
By Yuri on December 28, 2012
When I, as the inventor of the Stardust Machine®, tell people that I have a machine that grinds Euro’s into dust, a lot of people ask me; “Why would I want to do that”?
Fair question: why would you want to grind a solid euro coin, good for a croissant, a Coke or a half a loaf of bread, into dust?
For me, the interesting part is that a coin is more than a piece of metal, it’s the physical manifestation of an agreement between people. Although the material value of a coin is exactly the same as the dust you get when you grind it, the coin is accepted as something valuable because everybody agrees it has value. This follows that, as soon as people break the agreement, the money loses its value. So the question is: how solid are these coins actually? In this sense, the Stardust Machine® mystifies as much as it demystifies.
As it magically turns your coin into dust, it shows you that value is just a matter of perception.
