About Waldemar Torenstra

Waldemar Torenstra is a Dutch actor. For years he was one of the actors of the Noord Nederlands Toneel (Northern Dutch Theatre) group. After graduating from high school, he initially began studying Economics at the University of Amsterdam, but eventually he chose for the theater and has since then appeared in productions as "Hamlet" and "The Big Friendly Giant '. With the Northern Dutch Theatre he performed in "Sympathy for the Devil, " "Othello"and "Lenny Bruce". In 2006 he played the lead role in the free theater production ‘Moordspel’ (‘Murder Game’). 2008 saw him as the lead character in the movies ‘Zomerhitte’ (‘Summer Heat’), and ‘Bride Flight’ In 2009 he was the presenter of the popular television program 'De zomer draait door’ during the summer months. Neverending Story

Long time ago, when I was still studying economics with a Dutch former minister of culture (Rick vd Ploeg) as my professor, I learned that if I had one hundred Euros and loaned someone eighty out of those hundred Euros that meant there were one hundred and eighty Euros.

And you could keep repeating that same process endlessly.

It was called New Economy, we should all want it, and it would make everybody happy.

It didn’t make me happy though, because I thought: ‘But somebody will have to pay for those eighty Euros which actually don’t exist’

But luckily everybody is taking part and everybody wants to lend and spend; money is a strong belief system.
